Fly-PA Competition Rules

  1. All entrants must be a member of Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery at the time of the competition in order to qualify.
  2. All entrants must be 21 years or older to enter.
  3. All entries must be an IPA as recognized by the 2008 BJCP Style Guideline in categories 14A, 14B, and 14C.
  4. All entries must be homebrewed. Entries produced at commercial breweries, brewpubs, brew on premises, or research system will not be allowed.
  5. Only one entry per member will be allowed.
  6. All entries must be made from commercially available ingredients. The participating commercial brewer retains the flexibility to:
    • Change the winning recipe as necessary to accommodate their brewing equipment.
    • Choose the winning beer based on private concerns (marketability, feasibility, balance, etc.)
  7. All entries must use a single step infusion mash process. No decoction or multi-step mashes will be allowed. Entries made from extracts are allowed but, will be converted to all-grain if announced the winner.
  8. No entries will be allowed to use outside bacteria (ie. Sours) to influence its production.
  9. Brewers must provide Three, brown 10-16 oz. bottles that are free of previous labeling. Green bottles, Grolsch-style swing top bottles, or bottles with raised lettering are allowed, but discouraged. Bombers (22oz or 750ml) are acceptable but 2 bottles must be submitted. Bottles that are so unique as to make identity of the entrant a possibility may be subject to disqualification should not be submitted.
  10. Each bottle must have a completely filled out bottle ID form RUBBER BANDED to the bottle. Taped or glued labels could disqualify the entry. Caps should be plain; any markings should be blacked out with a permanent marker.
  11. A completely filled out Competition entry form / recipe sheet must be rubber banded to one of the bottles. Any entry without a recipe is subject to disqualification. The category and sub-category of the entry must be identified or the entry will not be judged. Organizers will not classify or reclassify your entries.
  12. All entries submitted become property of the Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery. No part of an entry will be returned, including bottles. Empty bottles may be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis after the competition.
  13. Entries will be accepted between August 20, 2011 September 2nd and August 26, 2011 September 9th, 2011. Entries may be dropped off at the locations listed below.
  14. The participating commercial brewer will determine when the winning recipe will be produced.
  15. Score sheets will be distributed by mail as necessary.

We reserve the right to disqualify any entry for failure to comply with these rules. Disqualified entries may be evaluated but will not be eligible for awards. No entries will be returned. The decision of the judges is final.
