11:00 am 2014 Annual Meeting (Members Only

MEMBERS ONLY EVENT!

Your favorite co-op’s 2014 Annual Meeting is just around the corner! Saturday September 6th at Populuxe Brewing in Ballard marks Flying Bike’s fourth annual meeting of the members.  A special prelude to this year’s meeting is our Cascadian Dark Ale competition – the co-op’s fifth homebrew competition which will source the recipe for the next great Flying Bike brew.  Competition sampling and voting will begin at 11am, one hour prior to the beginning of the Annual Meeting.  CDA submissions may be in limited quantity, so first come first served!

Annual Meeting business kicks off at 12pm with a presentation by your board of directors, as well as words from BOD candidates in attendance. The meeting also provides an open forum for members to bring issues and thoughts to the attention of the Board.  We will also be handing out Customized Growlers for the members referral program – so be sure to be there to collect yours if you’ve earned it!

The meeting will conclude with Board election results.

Plan to join your fellow co-op member-owners at this important annual event, share your ideas, and help shape the future of Flying Bike. A full lineup of delicious Populuxe beers will be available for purchase as well as food from Beez Neez Sausages (including a vegan option).  Other food may be brought from home or delivered by nearby restaurants.

We will also have plenty of co-op merch for sale, including bike jerseys and growlers! While we strongly encourage you to vote electronically in the days leading up to the 6th, you will be able to cast a paper ballot at the meeting, up until the close of the member meeting portion of the event.

Bus routes #40 and #28 service the area and neighborhood parking is abundant and free.
The Burke Gilman Trail and 8th Ave NW bike routes are also nearby for easy Cycling Access!

12:00 pm CDA Competition Announced!

We’re excited to announce more details for our fifth Flying Bike homebrew competition!
Brewers pay special attention. The CDA competition will take place Saturday September 6th (time and location TBD). Last year’s Homebrew Open was such a success that we will once again feature interactive voting. BCJP score sheets will be provided as a guideline for voting. See the following links for examples of categories for which CDAs may be judged – but remember, we love to see interesting and innovative brews from members! So get brewing and lets have some fun.

BJCP 2014 Draft Guidelines – Category 21B, Specialty IPAs: Black IPA

CraftBeer.com, American Black Ale

Attendees at the event will vote for their top picks based on style guidelines as well as their own tastes and perceptions. We’ll then tally results and determine a winner. It will be a great day to taste beer from other members and sample awesome Flying Bike homebrew talent. We’ll once again plan to have snacks and light food on hand.

Further details of the event will be announced via email.
We are attempting to line up our Annual Meeting to coincide with this competition, but must first work out some details. Stay tuned!
